Re: VHS to DVD machines
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 1:21 PMAndrew, depending on how much you have to digitize? You can buy hardware/software to do the job any where fom 300 to $3,000.
A work around is to get a DV video camera and play the source (VHS) into it. Then you have a Mini DV tape that you can bring into a computer with various available softwares available. (I hope you have a mac).
Now if you simply want to put VHS onto a DVD then Sony or Panasonic's have always been reliable for me. -

Re: VHS to DVD machines
Mon, April 28, 2008 - 11:09 PMThere are about 100 vhs tapes. Would like to get some of it to a computer to edit. But mostly want it to have another means of storing what is on the tapes as they will eventually degrade, but then again so will burnt DVDs. Which format lasts longer? -

Tue, April 29, 2008 - 10:13 AMDVD actually has a shelf life.. they degrade over time. Blue ray holds a lot of data as well so you may want to check into that.
