what is the protocol for some network trying to use your video footage?
there is a reality tv show that is wanting to pitch an idea to their executives and wants my footage.
do i just give it to them for free?
is there a charge?
does anyone have a website or leads to this kind of legalities?
i haven't even gotten a chance to cut it myself and don't want another thing of mine going out into the world again for the benefit of someone else.
how do i get credit?
copywright?
what is the protocol?

Just ask to see a contract first. And up front ask them what rate they are offering to pay. If its a short clip its $'s per second used. Credit goes on their end credits and in your contract it should stip that you get screen credit.

You can give outright usage for a buyout cost or one time usage. There are so many ways to go about this.

No do not give it away.
